There is no such thing as negative numbers. "How do you take 5 apples from 3 when there are only 3 apples?" This was in elementary school in Wisconsin. The temperature regularly goes below zero. Pointing this out got me time in the corner. I'm still kinda salty about that.

We found a dead baby bird. Was told most animal babies don't live to adulthood. Knew people were animals so it was likely me and most of my friends would be dead by 21

Whenever I close something that locks, I touch the key that unlocks it first. This has saved me many times from locking myself out of the house and locking my keys in the car or trunk

It can seem to work though. My brother-in-law tells stories about seeing his friends get out of tickets with their hand written IDs. To me those stories sound like cops stopping a car full of drunken probably armed rednecks in the middle of nowhere - cops who just want to go home alive.
