You can't post stuff like this in a classroom... At least in the south

Well, I don't have an account and it removes their trackers so I'd say so. Their algorithm still works

All good points, however the purpose of a deadman's switch is that you fear for your life, taking a nap might not be as easy under those circumstances. Also, if you know at what time the SMS is set to arrive you can plan ahead to make sure you have Internet in order to respond, but OK maybe 60 seconds is too short of a time so let's make it 5 minutes. Being that this is using Google Voice, you can receive the SMS over a tablet or laptop so a backup would be a must have.

I enjoy tiktok (using Vanced) but I don't care if it goes away tomorrow. With that said, I don't like this ban as it sets a precedent where corporations can just ban the competition.

Depends on your background and industry.

If you work in IT, and are technically adept, you can...

  1. Store said files on a proton drive or mega.nz drive set to be only accessible to read by those who have the unique URL.
  2. Create a small server with a cron job that every 24 hours sends you a text message to a Google Voice number accessible anywhere with internet connectivity and you have 60 seconds to reply otherwise the cron job will craft a premade email to all international news agencies as well as government agencies responsible for the control of this issue, along with links to download the information.

Reminds of the pro-brexit voters when they truly understood what they voted for

Does it even matter at this point? Any phone that costs more than $1000 is too much regardless.

Show her it works, set boundaries, and enforce them. She cannot use you as a crutch for her inability.

If all else fails, fix it one last time, and tell her she needs to go to best buy (or whatever tech store offers tech support) for the next time and when she asks for you to fix it, just stand your ground and make her pay for someone else to deal with her shit.

Seriously, what's even the point of voting if a judge can overturn the voice of the greater majority?

Please don't auto downvote before reading.

A little bit ago some asked a question about why the hate of the blockchain, and that got me thinking if there even was a legitimate use case where the blockchain would be beneficial, but I couldn't think of one outside maybe some sort of decentralized bank, but before I knew I was thinking it would instantly turn into some crypto scheme and strapped it, because crypto currencies are a scam on every level -- and no they aren't private or secret as some think either.

So I wanted to ask the community. Instead of using the blockchain for crypto, is there a better use where the blockchain could benefit society?

Hey everyone, I was entertaining the thought of going away from owning a smart phone.

I already have a modded ipod classic that I use as my main music player.

I also know how to use a paper map.

I also have the Microsoft authentication app for work (I could just use my phone on wifi mode for this)

The last issue I have is WhatsApp where I communicate with friends and family around the world.

Is there a way to use WhatsApp on a non-smart phone? Or should I just buy a pixel and install a secure rom?

Hi everyone, I have an old gaming PC that I had repurposed to be my nextcloud and plex server using TrueNAS, but I recently found CasaOS and I would like to migrate my server to use this instead. What are some best practices that I should observe when installing a different OS into a server? My server is installed on an M.2 drive and I have two 1TB HDD setup in raid.

So, I have been giving this a lot of thought and come November I won't be voting for team blue or team red in the upcoming elections, but I will be voting for a candidate I belive in.

I have decided that my vote will go to Claudia de la Cruz because she lines up with my beliefs.

Some might say that I'm throwing away my vote and that this will just let Trump become president since I'm not giving Biden my vote, but honestly he doesn't represent me anyways and why should I vote for a party that doesn't deserve my vote anyway?

I hope Trump goes down in flames all the way to hell where he will have pineapples shoved up his ass while dressed as a French maid, but if the Dems loose in November, it won't be because me or many others just didn't vote for them, it will be because they did not do anything to show us they deserve out vote.

Sure Biden has done a bunch of stuff for the American people, but I just can't look away with the horror of what is happening in Palestine and be ok with him or other dems calling anyone who sympathizes with Palestinians as being pro Hamas or pro terrorism.

Sorry to anyone who isn't in the US and sees this post, I know the US politics are super annoying for you all, but I just wanted to get this off my chest.

TL;DR - I'm not voting for Biden just because Trump bad. I'm voting for someone who represents me.

Hi everyone, every time I setup a Pi project server I have a hard time since I can only access that device from the computer where I created the image since I add the SSH key during setup, but I would like to be able to ssh from my android and my other laptop in case I'm out on the road and away from home.

How can I add the other keys for the other devices to a single Pi without using the user name and password as this is also given me problems because ssh wants to try using keys and if it does not find them it just fails instead of asking me to enter the password (also, because it's not really safe).

South Carolina lawmakers appear close to approving a bill that would allow anyone who can legally own a gun to carry the weapon openly.

I don't feel safe any more.

Politicians constantly talk about stopping the illegal immigrants that are coming from Mexico, but putting a wall has never and will never be a solution since the reason why so many displaced keep coming across the border is mostly to escape the crime, corruption, inequality, and violence of they have to live in their home countries. The worst part is that most of these terrible things is that happen in third world countries are rooted in constant subversion by developed countries, primarily the US. I feel like since we caused this (even if in part) we should help stop it now, even if we didn't publicly admit guilt to save face.

So, how do we do it? Do we straight up invade Mexico and go on a full out war against the cartels like we did against Osama Bin Laden?

If not, why not? And, is there anything that can be done?

I would like to keep things civil. Please, let's keep this respectful as I know this is a tough issue and there is anger on both sides of this issue.

My nephew was a big part in this event and wanted me to share the video. If this isn't the right community for it, I am sorry, but I would also appreciate if someone knew where this could be shared as I don't really have social media.
