Keep things polite and relatively on topic. Beyond that I would moderate with a light touch until traffic increases.

That's definitely the plan :-)

The fact that the photos posted in the meta thread have really low scores but the one I uploaded as a post has over a hundred shows that the idea of all photos being in one post doesn't work.

I'd say it's more that new threads attract more views as they're more likely to land in the instance's local feed or c/all. The sorting algorithms suck for megathreads. Still, we could switch to weekly or biweekly threads if everybody is onboard, though I don't know if there will be enough momentum to keep them alive as we're still a relatively small community.

We're experimenting with a Pixel photography thread to boost engagement a little bit and also to help judge the different Pixel cameras, let us know what you think!

On reddit there was a sub called pixelograpy that was pretty active.

I'm not sure I get your point?

I was just thinking maybe we could have a community like that. Just for photography on Pixel phones.

That's possible too but maybe too early right now for spin-offs?

[โ€“] ki77erb 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah... Just throwing it out there.

I posted this on another thread but limit the number of support/troubleshooting related posts. Or create one single weekly megathread for that kind of stuff so it doesn't completely take over.

I like this idea but I also think it might not be search-friendly? If someone has an issue it would be hard for that person to check whether it was already discussed if all questions are in a single megathread.

I guess another idea would be having an entirely different sub called PixelSupport or something and then have a link for it here.

I don't think it's a good idea to do any spin-offs this early when maintaining activity on this instance alone is already not easy (but anyone is free to do so!), perhaps should be revisited later when we grow bigger ๐Ÿ˜
