I would have posted the source but like clockwork the same mistakes were made when people leak the pixel phones. They showed their own info, then deleted everything.

No more curved screens? Nice, that oneplus 8 is getting a bit long in the tooth.

man that was nice phone. If I where you I would wait to see the reviews on the pixel 8. Since the battery life on the new pixels has been below average (had the pixel 6 pro and now the 7 pro). Also depending on the version, I would recommend the OnePlus 11 instead.

I'll be using grapheneOS, so that's not an option.

Ah ok I see makes sense.

I'm not digging the back side. The visor looks weird with that large pill cutout. At that point they might as well go back to the full glass visor that the 6/6Pro had.

On the positive side: no curved display, yay!

I guess they had problems with glare. But I also prefer the visor look of the pixel 6. This looks like the bandaid it is.

idk if thats a good idea since the gn2 sensor (new main one) is quite bigger compared to the gn1. So it makes more sense imo to have it protected somewhat, than not at all.

The temperature sensor is a weird choice. It's better than no weird sensors, but I can't see myself using it very often.

This was in development during the pandemic. So, it makes sense why they put it in. But still a weird choice in 2023. I think it will get replaced by lidar or something in 2024/25.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That makes sense. I guess it goes to show how long hardware development cycles are.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 2 years ago

yeah its insane. I won't be surprised if we will start seeing three-year dev cycles soon.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Didn't they do lidar in the P4?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

I don't believe it was lidar. Soli used something else.

Yeah as long as it's not contributing to a big notch or something it's whatever to me. I think it'll be similar to soli on Pixel 4: useless and immediately turned off after a one time novelty try.

Rest of the phone is looking good and I'm a fan of the smaller size and flat screen!

As a parent I can say for sure the temperature sensor will be used a lot.

Hopefully no more cracking camera lenses this time…
