I'm a KDE user since 3.1 so I finally decided I should donate, but PayPal has very questionable privacy terms. I know this community is not very large (yet), but does anyone know why PayPal was chosen?

Paypal is extremely simple to manage and secure for both sides, both payer and receiver and usually has no delays.

Unless you are paying via cash donation or crypto, all methods of online payment with direct connection to banks have terrible privacy policies.

See https://kde.org/community/donations/others/ - you can do a direct money transfer.
