Actually made me laugh out loud, thank you.
So basically the therapist's recommendation is, don't engage in modern life. And maybe that's really the road to wellness. The one thing I truly agree with is, get enough sleep - it really does make a difference in how good you feel about life. However good luck trying not to engage with internet trolls. No matter what - someone has to take their verbal peashooter to anything and everything that gets posted.
I ended up getting the good sleep on accident, I pulled so many all nighters and 3 hour power naps that I physically cannot stay up late anymore. Night hits and I pretty much go comatose against my will as the eepy weepy sleepy demon gets me :3
id pay good money for that
Now I want some Swedish Fish...
Ok, good sleep, healthily eating, ok, ok. About "don't deal with people who upset you", how exactly can I do that ?
I think it's probably more about not intentionally seeking out people that you know will only upset you. e.g. Going on a forum that specifically conflicts with your morals.
That's legitimately not good advice, and I'm saying that as a therapist. You need to learn how to deal with people who upset you! Maybe she meant more of "don't put your energy into people who don't bother putting energy into you" vibe?
Oh... How about a big stick instead ?
The big "dealing with other people" stick. You should market it. I'd pay a dollar for that!
Don't deal with people
An even better suggestion. Trust me if I could afford it, I'd be on my own little Polynesian island right now in a my own private estate, maybe with a servant or two - definitely would need electricity for playing God of War and Mini Motorways. What do I need other people for!?
Yeah that, that is just not going to happen. Sorry. There's no way you can avoid conflict with other people. That's a huge part of what being alive is. You do get to decide how you let it affect you - but you can't do much to stop it. I think he should have said, "When you deal with people who upset you, learn some routines to get rid of the stress."
We need to harness that weepy sleepy demon and put it in pill form, and get a contract with big Pharma. I think all of us would pay good money for that. I'm older now, and let me tell you good sleep doesn't happen MOST of the time. And when I do sleep, my dreams are so vivid and intense that I don't feel rested. I dream the entire time I'm asleep, which if I'm lucky, can sometimes be as much as five to six hours a night.
