Welcome Golden Sun fans! I figured let's get the ball rolling on this new Golden Sun community!

  • What makes this game series so special to you?
  • What's your favorite memory about this game? Doesn't have to be specific to something happening in-game, but maybe where you were in life when you were first playing it.
  • Have you played all three Golden Sun games (Golden Sun, The Lost Age, and Dark Dawn)?
  • What are your thoughts for this franchise? Do you think Nintendo/Camelot will ever bring it back?

Honestly I dont know.

I remember a random day my dad took me to GameStop and told me to pick up a game from the used section. I somehow picked up GoldenSun and I have liked it since then.

I have played other RPGs, but nothing appeals to me like goldensun.

It's weird that it works that way right? Must just be the nostalgia.

My brother and I chose this game many years ago for some reason and we struck gold. When some of my friends back in the day would ask me about this game and why I recommended it, I found it kind of hard to explain to them why it was great. For some reason, it hits the proper balance between puzzles, RPG, classes, and random battles. Hunting for Djinn was fun and incentivized you to find them all. While the dialogue in the first two games is lengthy, the story is incredible and makes you hunger to learn more as you progress. I didn't find much time-wasting parts of this game, or areas that made me dread going through it.

So maybe for me it's the nostalgia, plus the balance of everything in the game that makes it great. I last replayed the trilogy about 7 years ago, so hopefully I still have the same mindset when I replay it again.

I agree withe everything you said! To be honest I havent played these games for a very long time (im hoping we get a new game soon!), but I remember everything was really appealing, the puzzles, the story, the characters, the djinn hunting. Even exp farming was not tedious, nor repetitive. I think ny favorite part was using the powers (forgot the name) outside of battle to solve puzzles

I'll kick things off first!

My sibling did something really good in school, and our parent got us one single Game Boy Advance console and a game to go along with it - and it was Golden Sun part 1! While it was tough to share the game, we took turns where we could. I was in middle school, and this was probably my first real epic JRPG to play before I even embraced what JRPGs are. The overall theme of the story made sense at a high-level, but I never appreciated the intricacies until I was older and more experienced with themes.

The clever puzzle design, lengthy dialogue (yes, I love lengthy dialogue as long as it's good dialogue), robust gameplay with Djinn and classes, the wholesome moments, exceptional story, and the music. These are things that make the game so special to me.

Without spoiling - I will say that I was astonished at the ending of this game at the time, because I didn't think it was ready to end. The To Be Continued was a great screen to see, and got me excited to play The Lost Age.

And finally - with the success of the Link's Awakening remaster for Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Super Mario RPG remaster this year, I have a lot of hope that Nintendo will green-light Golden Sun. After all, we saw Golden Sun appear in the Nintendo Switch Online app featured as a bonus for Online subscribers. I really hope we'll get the remaster announced.

P.S. - Why is "Super Mario RPG" for Nintendo Switch not including the subtitle? Are subtitles not cool anymore? I guess "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars NEW for Nintendo Switch" was too long of a title. :D
