Not asking for the normal stuff like a fridge and a toaster. What random object has saved you trouble in college?

Here's a couple small things people probably wouldn't think about until you get there, particularly important if you're stuck in the dorms with shared bathrooms:

  • A pair of cheap flip flops. You don't want to be standing barefoot amidst the unspeakable evils that have taken place in those showers. Trust me. Ringworm is a concern, but that's only what they're allowed to put in the PSAs. The crappy ones last a good six months at least and can be purchased for like $5 tops?

  • A shower caddy/plastic tool carrier. Like the kind your grandpa probably has with the two bins on either side and the handle in the middle. Put your soap, shampoo, all your other goodies and your towel in there rather than awkwardly trying to carry all of it on the way like the "why can't I, hold all these limes?" guy. Plus then where do you put your stuff? See above for why the answer "the floor" isn't valid.
