Using OpenRGB for quite a while now I wonder if there is any Opensource RGB controller supported by OpenRGB? Found out about Adalight, but it seems very very dated.

What i am trying to archive is ambilight style ambient illumination. Tried WLED via E1.31. It works quite well but seems to have some latency occasionally. So its not quite optimal. Is there any Opensource-Hardware option supported by OpenRGB?

To answer your main question, not that I am aware of. For WLED, are you using WiFi or Ethernet? I've heard from a lot of others that Ethernet and a beefier processor like an ESP32 (rather than an ESP8266) is a must if using WLED for reactive lighting like ambilight clones or xLights or anything near-real-time

My test was via wifi on a esp32. I will give the serial option in wled a shot.

WLED also supports serial over USB, have you tried that? https://kno.wled.ge/interfaces/serial/

I tried, bu no luck. Serial connection to the host is working fine. I can access Wled via Serial Terminal and also issue commands as described in the Wled documentation. However OpenRGB seems to prevent Wled from booting when serial is configured. The Wled web interface is not accessible while OpenRGB is running. I tried different baud rates as well as different protocols. Closing OpenRGB causes Wled to reboot and function normally.

I suspect there is a bug in OpenRGB since accessing Wled somewhat works via Serial Terminal. Can someone confirm OpenRGBs serial implementation is working correctly on the latest build? Might open a bug report over on Gitlab.

There is also CorsairLightingProtocol and the SRGBMods Pi Pico controller that use USB HID and are both supported in OpenRGB.
