I wish developers took genre as gameplay elements and not entirely mimicing settings and tone and themes along with the gameplay. Lots of people were hoping AC6 could be a soulslike in a different setting, because no ones doing it.

I don't like soulslikes and how everything has to be a soulslike these days, but maybe I'd be more willing to try if they weren't all so bleak.

I was kinda hoping for this too as much as I like ac as ac itself. I don't think the issue is this new genre as much as everyone confining it to dark fantasy

I also think there are too many souls likes.

If you told 15 year old me that I'd be nostalgic for scifi shooters they'd scoff.

It takes a lot to make a soulslike
But when it comes to me and you
And him, and her, and the baby too
Too many soulslike, it's true

Too many soulslike
Too many soulslike

I mean, not really? I can count on one hand the amount of decent souls likes, and half of those are 2d sidescrolling titles, what's left? Liies of p, remnant maybe, and the surge? Maybe nioh if you really stretch the definition of what a souls like is. If anything I want MORE soulslikes
