A place to discuss stories set in Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere! Non-Cosmere series such as Skyward are also welcome here.

Make sure to tag spoilers. Posts titles should begin with [Book title] to denote what spoilers can be discussed in the thread without tags. i.e [Words of Radiance] or [WoR]

Warning! Spoiler markup currently does not work on the Jerboa or Mlem apps. Spoiler text will be plainly visible when viewing from these apps.

Any comments with spoilers outside the scope of the book mentioned in the title, or books preceding it in a series should be tagged. Lemmy's spoiler formatting for post bodies and comments is:

The WoK was a 5 star read for me, WoR a 3 star and now I'm struggling to get properly into Oathbringer. I think I'm on chapter 10. Anyone else have this problem? Does it get more interesting or am I just not a Sanderson person?

What's bothering you about it?

I think Syl is annoying me at the moment.

Why tho, I think that at this point in the book she only wants the best for Kaladin

Tbh I really don't know. I think I'd just rather Kaladin's scenes without her. I think I find her disruptive to the search/mystery going on with the parshmen at the moment.

There are a lot of parts of most Sanderson books that I find grating, but the Sanderlanch almost always makes it worth it. I really love Oathbringer towards the end. Rhythm of War is much harder for me. That one only has parts I like instead of parts I dislike.

Glad I'm not the only one

I'm currently near the ending of Oathbringer. The final battle is worth fighting through the book, even where it gets long.

I found the endless retrospections of Dalinar quite tedious. But that resolves about 2/3 trough and then integrates quite well.

It's really a lot of different characters, too, that doesn't make it simpler.

Overall, while it rightly focuses on Dalinar, it's also a really really long build-up to Rhythm of War.
