Would you rather fight a hundred duck sized horses or one horse sized duck?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

As someone who works with poultry for a living. I would much rather fight a horse sized duck

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If your family or friends found out that you were arrested, what would they imediatly think the reason was?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

How are you liking the Lemmy/Kbin experience compared to the old snoo site?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Honestly love Lemmy. I played with it a couple months ago and fell out because the other was great, but, I love it now that there are more people. I even host my own Instance and made a new Community for GMRS radios. Now if only people would join lol

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

new Community for GMRS radios

Oh is that anyhow related to LoRa radios? I'm not too in the know about the different types of amateur radio out there. Always been interested in HAM radio, but haven't really learned much about any of it. Link your community!

Thanks for the link! Will subscribe, but looks like lemmy 0.18 is giving me some weird subscription bug rn. Saved anyway

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not really related to LoRa GMRS is basically a suped up walkie talkie it's $35 for a license that you can share with your family. We use it around the farms and I'm working on a repeater network that will cover most of the west side of my.state connected over a Mumble server so we can extend range indefinitely

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Oh, that's very cool. Seems extremely useful in areas with no cell coverage, or if that were to go down.

What was your single most impactful learning experience? An aha moment that really shaped how you see the world and your place in it.

When I was 22 I worked for a factory doing Inventory Control. I was fresh out of the Army and hated everything about being a civilian everything felt pointless. One of the other managers in the factory who was not over me at all, got in my face because I wouldn't let her skirt the rules and fuck up my inventory because what she wanted to do would end up Hurting the customer (Ford in this case) she got in my face were talking inches from my nose and started to yell at me so I gently pushed her out of my face and just lost it. Called her every name in the book, and how worthless she was in the shop. I told her how everything she touched crashed and burned and how she was the single biggest weak point in the shop. This made her go back to her office crying.

Flash forward 2 weeks she had tracked me and took pictures of my truck out in town when I was supposed to be at work (we only had 1 car so my wife would drop me off at work and take my truck to do whatever) she took this all the way up to the regional manager who told me I had two choices change my time card so that I only got paid for 20 hours that week or get fired. So I left my time card and quit.

This taught me it doesn't matter how awful someone is to you, treat them with silent respect so it doesn't bite you in the ass

A year later that woman got promoted to shop manager. 6 months later the factory went out of business because of how poorly she ran it.

Thanks for answering in detail.

I find that there is no amount of balking, or even thoughtful words, that can truly help or change a person, and I've come to understand that they are living their own consequences. Instant karma, if you will.

People crash and burn, and only then can we be there to help pick up the pieces.

You've learned a valuable lesson here, and I believe you are a better person for your suffering.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

It has definitely changed how I interact with people.

[–] nOvA_NoVa 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Any tattoos? If so what's their story.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I have my first car tattooed on my left arm in memorium because I tottalled it in High school. (1983 Jeep CJ7) and I have the death star with some trees and the words "that's no moon" on my right leg because Star Wars is cool

I tried uploading pics but, it doesn't want to work

[–] Mulkor 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What do you do for a living, regular guy? Would you like to do anything else?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Currently I farm turkeys. I have around 40k of them when the farm is full. I love my Job however I miss serving my country so much that I plan on reenlisting within the next coue years after I lose weight. (I became a fatty mcfatty after getting out of the Army) I'm hoping to enlist in Space Force this time around.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What's something you've always wanted to do/try, but haven't got around to yet?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I've always wanted to go wheeling on the Trans American Trail

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Immovable object vs unstoppable force: which wins, and why?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

For obvious reasons this is a no win situation that results in the Earth exploding

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Howling can you hold your breath?

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I cannot Howl and hold my breath at the same time. I tried

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm definitely going to leave this autocomplete failure.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

I mean I rolled with it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

What is your favorite dinosaur?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What do you do for a living ?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I manage a 40k bird turkey farm

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's interesting. Is it a lot of physical work ? Do you own the farm or just manage it?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Whole lot of physical work. I only manage but, it's very hands off from the owner. So it's treated like my farm
