Jerboa has no push notifications permission as of 0.032-alpha. Hopefully it is on the devmap and developed soon.
Jerboa
Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.
Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.

Contact
It is planned but seemingly there has been no activity since December 2022.
In defence of the dev, they are very busy with other features for Lemmy.

Running google play services or no?
I'm not really sure what you mean?
Standard android phone that comes default with gmail, google maps, youtube, etc? Or degoogled with LineageOS? If you are unsure its most likely the former. In which case the lemmy server prob doesnt support push and the devs would have to add it
Notifications work for me... Maybe try reinstalling the app?
