Warnings will start going out July 24. I assume drivers can still simply not pay these without repercussion.

I’m so confused about the new bus/bike lanes on Pennsylvania Ave SE. People just blatantly park in the bus lane as if it’s completely legal, so I’m wondering if I’m somehow misunderstanding the law. Are people allowed to park there outside of rush hour?

It depends on the bus lane. They should all have frequent signs like this. I think it may be a fair point that they should make it more consistent, maybe just pick 7am-7pm, M-Sat, for all of them. The map with each of them and their hours is here: https://buspriority.ddot.dc.gov/pages/buslanes

Thanks for the additional info! That link says “All other vehicles are prohibited from driving, stopping, or standing in the bus lanes when they are in operation, except to make turns.”

This makes me still wonder if they’re endorsing people parking in the lanes outside of the designated rush hour times. I would’ve expected that people could just use it as a driving lane outside of those hours, but because DDOT left up the original parking signage and parking meters on the other side of the bike lane, people seem to have collectively decided that they can keep parking there.
