I say they go NSFW to prevent advertising
That's what they would do if they're /r/PICS ("Posts Illustrating Community Sentiment").
Reddit admins have said they won't allow subs to become NSFW if they aren't actually NSFW. But "Posts Illustrating Community Sentiment" can be anything, even outright porn. And of course, the good moderators at /r/PICS would never allow outright porn without properly marking their subreddit as NSFW...
They will have to if they allow any post that doesnt break sitewide rules.
Which makes it impossible for every third party app even the ones paying the ridiculous API fees, to display content as everything NSFW is only available on Reddits own webpage or App. (Or at least that’s what I read, but I couldn’t find the post anymore, so if anyone happens to have a source…)
Which is a win for the cause of making people quit Reddit, if that's the preferred option.
That's pretty huge, since they're probably the biggest subreddit.
/r/funny is the biggest subreddit.
I feel like suspending the specific rules is the only viable long term protest. As much fun as John Oliver pics are, eventually people will tire of the meme.
I think that's the point. Kill the sub for less traffic to Reddit.
Say that to r/AlzheimersGroup
and r/AnarchyChess ... and r/RaimiMemes
Just turn it into a NSFW pics sub ffs, if you don't set it to NSFW then you're still creating engagement that is being monetized through ads and spez will just continue laughing at you.
If they vote for number three then they'll have to be nsfw.
I just noticed, stupid me.

I'm not sure what you mean by that or why you're telling me. Not trying to be rude, just not understanding, lol. (Maybe I'm having a stupid moment.)
just meant that your #3 may be someone else's #1 etc... 😬
Oh. Yeah, I'm aware of that. Not sure why it's relevant?
I mean they literally replace mods and put subs back online. Not sure they’d have much of a problem with removing a NSFW label and delete some NSFW post if thats getting the sub back “in line”
I like that they don’t even have an option for returning to the way it was. Hoping for number 3, no sub specific rules at all.
I call a fire sale in 6 months ;)
Reddit is writing their own rules and they’ll rewrite this one to get their way. They’ll just force it back to SFW and remove any mods who undo it.
Dang I didn't realize how big of a land slide the last poll was.

-19.6K for returning to normal operations.
74K for John Oliver pics
Should users happen to decide on the third option, /r/Pics will officially become /r/PICS; "Posts Illustrating Community Sentiment." Literally anything that doesn't break the site-wide rules will be allowed... so while you'll still be able to share your three-act musical about John Oliver, you'll also be able to share AI-generated videos of anime girls yodeling (for example).
I love this so much
