Just curious if there's bots on mastodon that you can attempt interact with. I might make a bot that pretends to be human using ollama just to see how it goes. Because that would be interesting

Bots are largely a nuisance to the communities they're in; I would advise against making one.

What is the point? All this serves is to make any community you loose this on objectively worse.

This kind of "project" directly contributes to the degeneration of the internet. Please don't do that.

"Community" on Mastodon?

Get curious see what happens, explore make notes and improve.

I'd recommend that you make an counter AI mastodon bot, btw I'm more than happy to share my findings

There are on lemmy, actually there's a whole instance, it's called lemmy.ml

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm sorry, when I made this account there were basically no other instances, and now I don't want to move and lose the early adopter bragging rights

Jup. There are a few normal people. The main problem is the mods and admins, who enforce the tankieness on everyone in those communities.

I love the Lemmy shit talk. I'll save my opinion on the community, but they do need to realize mean comments and down boats aren't much of a deterrent

The only way to win the game of "Bot, or troll?" is not to play and hit the block button instead. Which I will go ahead and do now.

Yeah you'd be surprised how no ones utilizes that feature or if they do they they don't announce it

Make sure that people know that it is infact AI, best to put that into the Name. Else this would be a shitty move honestly

If you want to talk to bots just go on reddit or twitter /s

Everyone online is a bot except for you.

What if bots have gotten so advanced they have simulated lives and backstory to help sell their reality.

In which case... could you even be sure you aren't a bot?

[–] slazer2au 1 points 22 hours ago

No-one can.

Why make a bot when you can just go on ChatGPT.com?

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I want my computer to interact with other people and see if I can make it more human

[–] [email protected] 6 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

That sounds like you're planning to waste a bunch of people's time. Not sure what your intent is, but if label it correctly (as AI), few people are going to talk to it like a person, and if you don't, that's a dick move and will also get you banned.

[–] [email protected] -2 points 16 hours ago

Lol you think there's justice in this world, but im curious to see what happens and to see what I can do. Apparently it might help with with counter AI measures. My intent is to satisfy my curiosity and see what crazy unexpected shit happens

I've seen one or two that run for a short time, but they became slow and incoherent fast.

[–] [email protected] -3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Neat so if have to figure out a way to keep it coherent

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think they became confused in threads with more people and were unable to track conversations.

Guess id put in a regulator that makes it stop after X number of people after X number of post deep
