For me the book was a bit of a slog, but the concepts were really interesting. Felt it was a translation issue or something as I’d normally like this kind of story. Looking forward to checking it out as a tv series.
Television
Wow there are so many adaptations of 三体 now! Tencent has an entire series available on YouTube (and Tencent Video), and there's apparently an animated version of what I presume to be the second book, somewhere. I only know this through one of the artists I like making the outro song for it.
I rather thought that the animated version would be the one coming to Netflix, but it seems to be a third thing altogether.
Very excited! A bit sad it's in English though, but I guess it makes it more approachable.
But there's no dialogue shown in the teaser? Could have the Chinese parts in Chinese and English parts in English.
Hm, maybe. Given that the voiceover is entirely in English, I kind of assumed it would just be entirely in English. Benedict Wong is an English actor after all.
He looks like a really good fit for Da Shi though, pretty much exactly what I pictured Shi to look like. I'm very excited!
I really really hope this series also gets to The Dark Forest & Death's End, I loved this book series so much.
Looking closely at it, it looks like they've taken some creative liberties. I don't see Wang Miao anywhere, did they make Yang Dong the main character? Also Mike Evans now has a battleship instead of a decommissioned oil tanker.
I do hope it takes off though! The books were amazing, and hope more people get to enjoy their stories!
Yeah looks like Wang isn't there. Benedict Wong is probably Shi Qiang, that seems like a good casting to me.
Yeah he seems like a perfect fit!
