game glitch? help my chickens! (self.stardewvalley)

i havent played in a couple months and when i started up tonight it needed and update so i did, and now i cant place the hay for my chickens even though i have a silo full of hay..? and obviously hay in my inventory..? i try to place it but nothing happens! i will not play if my chickens are going to starve so please help me!!
