Comic Books

1731 readers
63 users here now

A place to discuss comic books of all types, from old to new, Big 2 to indie, and everything in between.

Floppies, graphic novels, compilations, omnibusses (omnibusi?) are all fair game.

There is only one rule:*

Comic Books is a no judgement zone.

You can talk all you want about how Rob Liefeld is trash, Bob Kane is an asshole, or Frank Miller and Dave Sim’s politics have made them toxic, that’s all good.

If, however, another user is LEGITIMATELY a fan of something you don’t like, that does NOT make them a lesser person. Attack the art for being bad, not the person for being a fan of bad art.

* I lied. There are TWO rules... No piracy. Cover shots? That's good. Interior pages, in moderation? Sure. Full books? Links to pirate sites? That's how we get things shut down. :(

I'm not saying it's been a problem, because it hasn't been.

Action Comics #1081 - Action went weekly for a giant Phantom Zone story, feels like it's wrapping up...

Batman Santa Claus Silent Knight Returns #5 (Of 5) - Speaking of weekly, is this an annual tradition now? At least last year and this year...

Batman The Brave And The Bold #20 - Continuing TB&tB as an anthology book.

Batman The Long Halloween The Last Halloween #4 (Of 10) - Putting a pin in the Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale collaborations. :( RIP Sale.

Black Canary Best Of The Best #2 (Of 6) - Tom King exploring the realm of underground superhero fights with Black Canary.

Flash #16 - Flash has been an interesting experience since the reboot, more metaphysical than anything else. IIRC this is the 2nd issue since the last arc ended?

Geiger #9 -
Hornsby And Halo #2 -
Redcoat #8 -
- More from the Ghost Machine universe!

Green Arrow #19 - Still recovering from the Absolute Power nonsense, but the annual a few weeks ago was excellent.

Green Lantern Dark #2 (Of 7) - Really good Elseworlds.

Justice League Unlimited #2 - Ties in to the mini-series for the Question and Challengers of the Unknown.

Metamorpho The Element Man #1 - Great time to launch his own book after popping up in the Superman trailer. Synergy. Synergy!

Moon Knight Fist Of Khonshu #3 - Been digging the Mooniverse.

Power Girl #16 - Just a delight since she's been dating a Norse God.

Kidpool Spider-Boy #1 - Whata combo with an Humberto Ramos cover...

Spider-Boy #14 - I had dropped this but picked it back up again for the Spider-Girl arc.

Superman #21 - Did you know Lois Lane has powers now? Yeah...

Ultimate Black Panther #11 - I really need to catch up on these.

Exceptional X-Men #4 - Of all the rebooted X-titles, this is probably the best. Still thinking of dropping all of them.

X-Men #9 - I think this finishes the assault on the mansion arc?

Short one for me, which is good because I threw a bunch of money into another hobby (thanks xmas bonus), and still need like $300 to finish setting that up haha, so saving here helps a ton!

Creepshow Volume 3 #4 - Damn I love Creepshow. It's just so good, I already can't wait until vol 4, vol 3 isn't even over yet!

Geiger #9 - I'm behind on Geiger I need to catch up.

That's it for me lol.

Two good surprises this week:

  1. Dust to Dust #1 - For folks who go "I hate superhero comics!"

This is a dust-bowl era murder mystery set in Oklahoma. A family has gone bust trying to hit water on their farm, as they bail for California, their dog digs up part of a human jawbone.

  1. Ghost Machine starts tying together.

At long last Geiger, Redcoat, Junkyard Joe and the forthcoming "Northerner" stories start to come together.
