“Connecticut’s dealer franchise laws benefit consumers and provide a competitive marketplace.”

No one believes this and we all hope the dealer franchises continue to die off.

This isn't really new. Tesla did the same thing in New Mexico a few years ago. They have at least a showroom in Nambé, NM.
