Bats are cool

Bats are the only true flying mammals. There are over 1,400 species of bats, and they can be found on nearly every part of the planet. Not only are they cute, they are also important...

Studying how bats use echolocation has helped scientists develop navigational aids for the blind. Without bats’ pollination, seed dispersal, and pest control we wouldn’t have bananas, avocados, mangoes, agave, or cacao… that’s right, bats bring us tequila and chocolate!

I should say that some bats are not nocturnal (out of more than 1,400 species, about 10 are diurnal, and they tend to be fruit bats).

I always thought that a lot of bats were actually crepuscular?

According to this article, most seem to be nocturnal, but there are definitely crepuscular species of bats. Here is a closeup of the graphic from the article.

I appreciate the effort but I feel like this is one of the things people are most likely to already know about bats.
