A term "hack & slash" already exists since before 2000

Well yeah but we also call anything that's like Doom a boomer shooter now. So you see, your argument is invalid * tips fedora, vanishes into Cheeto dust *
Eh, if Diablo 3, Immortal, and 4 didn't exist...I could see it.
I think we should call future Diablos POE-clones.
I think he should read the room. They killed the franchise.
I thought we did tbh
we will continue to call your game an action rguelike, sir. you don't get to add a twist to a genre and then be who's the genre
I thought we used arpg for that already.
Hack'n Slay. arpg feels more like an umbrella term for any RPG with an action combat system. It's at least how we described it back during SNES times with games like Secret of Mana, opposed to games like Final Fantasy with their turn based combat.
Wait, we don't?
I mean, I was there when the discourse around Diablo 1 was "it's not a real RPG, it's mostly just Gauntlet with loot", so "not ARPGs" and "Diablo-likes" have been in my lexicon from the ground floor.
I've always heard hack n slash and diablo-clone for years.
I always thought of diablo as a Gauntlet clone
I just call them “wester-style RPGs”. It’s like the contrast to JRPGs.
