Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks reports a woman was killed by a bear Saturday July 22nd on the Buttermilk Trail near the town of West Yellowstone.

Yikes, how sad. I wonder if the bear was provoked or protecting its offspring, usually they will just run away

The hiker was believed to be alone during the encounter, and no bear spray or firearms were found at the scene.

I am shocked, SHOCKED I say. Any wagers on where she was from?

Looks like she was from Kansas. There are more articles out with details.
