Contact with bodily fluids from infected person

Transmission more likely if sharing same bed or room or utensils as infected person

An increased transmission risk is associated with factors involving the introduction of virus to the oral mucosa.

The virus enters the body through broken skin (even if not visible), respiratory tract, or the mucous membranes (eyes, nose, or mouth).
