With Goodnotes 6 being released, it now is a subscription instead of a flat payment. I am looking for a replacement app that is not subscription based. I have tried onenote and really did not care for it. Notability is one that i have seen suggested, use it a single payment?

I use notion for a lot of stuff. Some people don’t like that it has Ai but I literally have never used it and never interacted with it. I quite frankly forget it’s an option. I like it a lot and there’s a LOT that you can do with it.

Did you not have GoodNotes 5? I have the legacy plan and have kept my access just without the new features.

I thought everyone was being moved to 6.

Not as far as I know. You can keep your version 5 access if you previously had it.

If something different is being communicated now, I could be wrong, but that was the message originally.

  • CollaNote
  • Apple's Notes :P

I've used the former for a while, switched to the latter lately.

If your notes are primarily text, I’d suggest Obsidian. It’s cross-platform (Mac, Windows, iOS, Android, and Linux) and open source. I moved over from OneNote and have been absolutely loving it.

I had looked at obsidian as a replacement for google keep, but not at a replacement for good notes. I will try it again. Thanks

I just picked it up for $20 a year

Yes, this is a subscription and what I am avoiding.

Not looking for an argument just generally curious as to why $20 a year seems like something you really don’t want, especially when the devs are updating it regularly and that they get paid. Seems like a win win for a good product. Edit: it is unfortunate however they don’t offer a free version to win you over

I am not asking for a free app. I paid for Goodnotes 5 and would pay for Goodnotes 6 if it was a single payment. I am not going to subscribe to software. I left Adobe Photoshop for that very reason.

If you are fine with it, do it. I am not.
