We need an active piano discussion forum! With a lot of discussion boards on the internet dying out, there is a lot of potential to have a decentralized platform for discussing piano.

I would welcome any advice, questions, and so on over here. Hopefully, we can curate some excellent information and guidance for everyone.

I'll make sure to reply to every post on here. So let's get some discussion flowing!

Welcome aboard to everyone on this server! Which pieces are you working on? What is your level of experience?

There are many different ways in which to approach learning the piano, and I've been reading a lot of books lately. One of the things I've grown to realize is that everyone approaches it differently. If you have the time for it, I would highly recommend reading the books by Gieseking, Seymour Bernstein, and Gyorgy Sandor.

There are many sub-skills involved in playing: technique, sight reading, ear training, and memory training. There are also a number of ways in which you could break up practice sessions: you could go with a few long sessions, or a large number of short bursts. Both tend to work for different people, and I'm as of yet undecided if there's a clear winner.

Thoughts?
