NGC 4463 is an open cluster located in the constellation Carina. It was discovered by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop on May 14, 1826. Open clusters like NGC 4463 are groups of stars that are gravitationally bound and were formed from the same giant molecular cloud. They are often characterized by their relatively young age and blue stars, which are indicative of recent star formation.
