De Gea going to free status puts United in more of a power position in terms of negotiating; I wouldn't be adverse to him remaining at the club another year or two as he has been a good servant, however another keeper (such as the one suggested) with no baggage or preconceptions from fans would be nice step forward. We don't need big names a la recent years, but motivated players; SAF's history with signing such players showed how a work ethic can produce a great team from players who want it.

Even though de gea is out of contract I haven’t heard any clubs to be approaching him. I think he has already signed the extension but the club choose to announce it after they have secured a first team goalkeeper as he is going to be a rotation player at best.
