@politics on kbin.social is a magazine to share and discuss current events news, opinion/analysis, videos, or other informative content related to politicians, politics, or policy-making at all levels of governance (federal, state, local), both domestic and international. Members of all political perspectives are welcome here, though we run a tight ship. Community guidelines and submission rules were co-created between the Mod Team and early members of @politics. Please read all community guidelines and submission rules carefully before engaging our magazine.

I cannot personally dedicate the time to moderation, but I do want to be active in this magazine.

However, we are in need of community guidelines and moderators because @ernest is already a very busy person (_greatly appreciate all your work!!_). There are already a few bad faith actors in this community space that are dominating the airwaves with bigotry and reporting them is fairly ineffective right now because there's only one moderator who is actually the instance dev.

Would anyone in this community space like to take over moderation here? Basic requirement: positive reputation score. I think if we talk it out and then reach out to Ernest, he can promote two or three people to moderate.

very little people wants to dirty their hand moderating a very divisive community like Politics

This. I could help with some of the obvious trolls (e.g., posts such as, "open your eyes! The leftists are okay with trans genocide!!") but identitying and enforcing fair community rules while trying to be mindful of my own biases would be a lot of work.

I thought you were joking, but two posts down in my feed I saw the leftist trans genocide post. Yikes.

I don't think asking for completely neutral moderators is the goal. But finding folks who at least will open the reports log and lay down the law to prevent the eventual slide into being overrun by trolls.
