i personally have not gone below 32mm - although I am doing an Intelligent Qube diorama and the little dude is perhaps of that scale - he's a man in a suit and fully printed about 4.5cm tall - maybe that is close to that scale. I will say that I tend to print things i want quality at 35um layer height (default being 50um). The mars 3 can go to 25um layers but i honestly don't see much of a difference. At those layer heights I believe 15mm can capture details but you may have to dial in your printer first - honestly that's not a big deal (spend a day with a bunch of cones of calibration prints and you'll be dialed in in a few hours). with more modern printers adding "K"s to their specs - those may be able to handle that scale a little better due to fidelity/pixel density but i doubt you'll find one at the price point of a mars 3.
