If it’s a first time hold into the item with their address (in case they do it again or you find more trash there). I’d hold onto it for a month at longest.
If it’s a repeat problem already then confront them.
I have found someone else's rubbish in my bin before, but I couldn't tell where that came from. My recycle bin happens to be the closest to the shed door, so hell knows if it was them or some actual neighbours.
EDIT: I just realised: I wrote parcel, but I meant the box. Just the box.
