The original 1932 novel was based on Al Capone's rise to power. Then there was a 1932 film adaptation of that novel. Then the Al Pacino classic remake in 1983.
The original movie can be rented or bought anywhere but is only streamable on criterion collection subscription service.
1983 remake is on Netflix.
