Returning to clarinet after playing in school 150 years ago. My teacher assigned me Rose Etude No 1, and I'm finding it very challenging! Particularly the fast runs, my fingers seem to have little minds of their own and the notes are not so even. Anyone have any great tips for tackling it?

One of the more challenging aspects of No. 1 is keeping the tempo consistent, what I would recommend is practicing with a metronome (you can get a free app for your phone if you don't have one) at a slow tempo. Mark where each beat is and practice the runs so that everything lines up correctly with the beat. From there continue practicing those runs at the slower tempo until they are consistent, then slowly speed up until you are at tempo.

Appreciate that, I'm sure it will help!
