I currently use an OnePlus 9 Pro and want to switch to LineageOS.

I dont use banking apps and don't use Netflix or whatever.

The only thing holding me back is android auto. I searched various forums and posts and got a bunch of mixed results.

Can someone give me the current status on android auto with lineageos? Does it work, if yes, is it easy to install and use?

I've been thinking about making the switch for a while now, but I'm in the same boat, don't want to lose Android Auto.

Based on my digging (and I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong), it seems like Android Auto needs the full version of Gapps to work, so if you install Gapps alongside LOS you should be good (on most devices).

As far as I understand, installing the full gapps version would kinda defeat the purpose of lineageos, doesn't it?

Depends on what you think the point of LOS is.

At its core it is pretty much the same as the custom android versions of the phone manufacturer OS' but allows you to not get GApps if you don't want them
