I think the fact that SCOTUS isn't allowing the deal to go through speaks against the idea that the Sacklers are going to be allowed to be treated as though they are above the law.

They are above the law. They have been gutting the company prior to the bankruptcy. If anything the state will just create a new deal that satisfies the needs of the supreme court and the owners of the company rather than the people they have hurt. Sorry to say the article doesn't mention why the supreme court blocked the deal
