I pray they don't change their minds and continue with these plans. It's so stupid of them and I love it.

Yeah, I agree. I'm loving lemmy and haven't spent more than 10-15 min. on Reddit over the past week.

I'm on kbin, but this all seems to be a decent replacement. Pretty cool I can sub to Lemmy posts

Oh that's interesting. Normally when someone's on a different instance, it would say: @[email protected] or whatever as your username.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

it does if they don't set a display name. they probably set a display name

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh interesting. So it can look like they're from your instance but they might not be?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

you can tell if they set a display name by if there's an @ in the front. if it's not there, that's their display name. you can see their username + instance by clicking on their name

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ahh, so I just set a display name... what do you see on your instance for me now?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i still see your username, so the change hasn't federated to my instance yet. but when it does, you will show up as whatever you set your display name to

Interesting. Thanks!
