Carlsen told Take Take Take that he doesn't plan to appeal the decision. "Honestly I'm too old at this point to care too much. If this is what they want to do I'll probably set off to somewhere where the weather is a bit nicer," he said.

Good take. Didn’t cause a huge fuss, just said “No I don’t think I will.” Considering the weight of his name it’s really their loss on what seems like an aging dress code. Honestly I feel like much of the popularity of chess today comes from completely “unprofessional” sources like twitch streamers and social communities where historically it was only championships and local clubs. As with anything, it’s adapt or die.
