Hi everyone, I have been tempted to go the Dolby Atmos route for a while now and I decided on the receiver to use: Onky RZ-50, but now my problem is that I have to mount 2 sets of speakers to my ceiling.
I have 3 pairs of Elac Unifi 2.0: two front, two sides and (at the moment) 2 backs. The backs will be shifted to be atmos back speakers. So I am going for a 5.1.4 setup.
Now I am thinking about shifting my fronts to be the atmos fronts and buy the new Elac Debut 3.0s as the new front speakers.
However the Unifi 2.0s are quite big and heavy, so I am not sure if there is a reasonable way to mount them to the ceiling without worrying that they fall on your head. Because of that I am thinking about buying the Micca RB42s for the front atmos which are a lot smaller and lighter.
I found this mount by k&m which claims to hold up to 25kg but as it would screw in the back of the speaker I am worried about the wood of the Unifi 2.0s to just split, as the speaker is very long....
What are your thought?
If you're also contemplating going with something new for the height channels-- instead of repurposing some of your existing speakers-- then I'd definitely recommend either of the SVS Elevation series if they're available where you live.
The angled drivers and included brackets make them pretty versatile (they're fairly easy to mount on the ceiling, or up high on the wall).
The ultra series seems to be made for ceiling mount, but the prime series not. 449€ is a bit steep though, but great recommendation thanks :)
No problem! BTW both the Ultra and Prime series actually use the same mounting bracket as far as I can tell. There's a separate insert that slides into the bracket to anchor the speaker and keep it from sliding out of the keyhole slots when mounted in either location.

I've got three sets of Prime Elevations mounted high on the wall in my setup, but they all came with those inserts packed into the box.
EDIT: apparently the Ultra version uses a magnetic ceiling block, versus the rigid rubber one that the Prime Elevation uses, but the end result should be the same with either one.
Very interesting, thanks. I will check them out. Would of course be way easier and including the extra mounts I'd need with other speakers potentially cheaper...
