Depakote, weight neutral? (self.bipolardisorder)
submitted 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) by thiscatismad to c/bipolardisorder

I've been put on Depakote instead of Olanzapine who made me put on 97lbs My psychiatrist says it is weight neutral, internet and research says otherwise. I am not looking for medication advice just anecdotes on whether Depakote made you gain weight or not. Or if it even causes the same ravenous hunger as an antipsychotic.

I was on it a short time but no weight gain. But yeah 15 pounds in one month on olanzapine. Fuck that shit. I’ve been on ziprasidone for years no issues. One month on Seroquel added 10 pounds.

I tried also all those things except ziprasidone. Seroquel didn't work for me but made me able to lose weight but I was depressed, so weird how it works differently for people.
