That's the kind of question where almost everyone will give you the same answer.

A friend will say you're friends, because you are.
Non-friends will say you're friends; because either they want to take advantage, or don't want to offend.

People tend to answer honestly in my experience. Those who lied and became friends after a while, that's just a friend gained.

As for taking advantage, I guess that depends on the person. I'm not particularly vulnerable, as I set the same standards for friends and strangers.
