Cable TV's collapse deepens: 'It is becoming increasingly clear that there is no longer any floor'

My wife was the hardest battle since we are probably on the older side of people who use this site. I got her to drop cable, and in return, we got hulu live back when it was $40 a month. Within 3 years, it's now $85, and without the add-ons and I said it has to go. Sat down and figured out everything she would watch, and although slightly more annoying to change channels, we just purchased subscriptions directly to the 3 channels she wanted and have the apps. So $85 is now like $20. I have to save money everywhere I can, cable is so pointless these days when everything offers easy cheap ways to watch just about anything.
Sounds like it's time to start a jellyfin/plex server so you can have everything in one place.
Haha, I actually have that as well... I have been using Emby for about 8 years now and a NAS with 34tb worth of content. I do not like those streaming add ons for kodi so I won't use that and I never setup any tv tuner either. It's the only reason we still pay for some since she likes the local news and sports.
Have you tried a digital antenna? You should be able to pick up the local channels on that.
