8/4 progress report on reaching #HarrisForPresident campaign re Mastodon for Harris.
Slowly but surely, I'm connecting with more people on the campaign who can get me to the right people to discuss a presence on Mastodon. I don't want to raise hopes prematurely, but it is clear that our fundraising (both total money raised and number of contributions) and the story of how it started is opening some doors. 1/

I'm also working with my contacts among activists and electeds in New Mexico. Part of my pitch to them is for the state Democratic Party and progressive organizations to get on Mastodon. So one unintended benefit of Mastodon for Harris may be to increase the presence of U.S. progressivism in the Fediverse more generally. 2/

When I communicate with #HarrisForPresident or others about Mastodon for Harris, I always include our fundraising link.
