Illustrator's Comment

“Even I think it’s not a very OCG-like design. But even so, I decided on this design by prioritizing how cool and strong it looks, trying to approach the idea of ‘the ultimate weapon that can kill even god(s)’. If the weapons in its claws and shoulders, the wings that wrap around it like a cloak, and so on give you that kind of feeling, then that’s great. The wings are something that came to mind at the very last minute when I had no time to spare, but now that I look at them, I feel that I accomplished what I wanted and should be praising myself more. To all of you, don’t worry, [I’m/we’re] preparing its finishing move!”

Illustrator's note:

“Unlike the Duel Terminal case(s), this is one of those case(s) where a basic concept is used first, and then the series progress over time. I wanted to introduce a recognizable [symbol/emblem], for this portmanteau of ‘Metal’ and ‘Metamorphose’, for Psychic-Types. And of course, the idea of spoon bending just wouldn’t leave me alone. I figured that if I could turn this goofy idea into something cool, a new design could be born…or at least that was the kind of energy I had while thinking about it. It was great at first though, because if you just straddle on [a spoon] it already looks like a motorcycle…thus began a long penance.”

According to the setting, she is supposed to possess the orb [relic], but that being the case, how is she supposed to dance? That’s something that I struggled with at first. Since Ha-Re has the swords dance, and Ni-Ni has ballet, for someone like Hu-Li, coming from a branch family of a house that honors traditions, I envisioned an elegant yet relaxed dance like Japanese dances. Therefore, what if I made her hold hand fans, and have her dance spinning the orb in those fans, like when orbs are spun on umbrellas? That’s the idea that came to mind, and it became her current design. When her orb elegantly dances mid-air, it’s almost like a pendulum used for hypnosis, bewildering those who watch it. Specially since she’s Psychic-Type. At first glance, Hu-Li is a child genius with an attitude of being able to accomplish anything without breaking a sweat, but in reality, she’s terrible at opening herself about her inner feelings, and can be a very awkward girl every now and then.

“The Mikanko of Ohime was designed after a pure and innocent goddess of abundance who loves to dance. Because she descended without memories and in an innocent state when the previous ritual was performed, she has a deep curiosity about all sorts of things. Since the request was for the motif to be mikan-based, I decided to draw the sacred mikan tree in the background! Or so I had concluded, but ended up settling for the current design. I think her current form borrows from the looks of the girl that became the first Mikanko.”

Everytime I watch mbt use prospy it always seems he regrets it later. I know objectively you always banish 6 to maximize your plays but the ed is not like lp it can be very tight and it could be tough to banish 3, let alone 6. For me personally I banish 3 when my hand is already stacked and I know I can make plays. Obviously it can depend on deck-to-deck like yeah branded would have no issues hacking their ed in half to find Fusion or Lost. Thoughts?
