Edit: The motion has passed.

What do people think about changing the rules to allow questions to be asked in their own posts instead of in the weekly thread?

We don't have enough question activity to warrant even a weekly thread, in my opinion, and that's ok.

All in favor say "Aye".

All opposed say "Hell naw".

I don't know whether this is intentional or not, but we haven't had any bot post for over a week. I've been posting DQs and SOTD posts, but I would like to know whether there's any plans to bring back the bots.

Not sure who's maintaining the server, but I had to create a lemmy.world account because our wetshaving server is super busted for a couple days now - UI is bulky and unusable like some broken CSS.

Works on Lemmy world, so that's cool, but heads up something broke recently with presumably a new deployment - using Android phone browser

Not sure if the bot will repin them or what happened there, but the Monday posts staying atop the post list is weird

Lemmy updates (sub.wetshaving.social)
submitted 1 year ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Who is in charge of updating our Lemmy instance? Is that our host or do we have to do it ourselves? v0.18.0 has been released for several days and Jerboa was updated as well, and Jerboa is no longer compatible with the current Lemmy version that we're on so I'm not able to access the instance using the app.

Hey Everyone. I'm seeing multiple SOTDs, Daily Questions, and Deals/New Products threads for today, June 27. Is everyone else seeing that, or is it just some weird bug in my own account?

So far I'm finding that subscribing to communities doesn't seem to be the same experience as actually being a participant on that Lemmy instance that we're Federated with. Notably, the upvotes don't seem to sync properly to our instance which makes communities feel dead when they have hundreds or thousands of users on other instances. Also, it feels like a lot of the posts and/or comments from other instances don't actually show up when I subscribe to those communities from our instance.

Can anybody else share their experience? Is this just an issue with our particular instance? Or a bug with synchronization across instances? Or does it just take a long time for things to catch up?

Also, the sorting is horrible. Sorting by "Active" sometimes shows me posts from over a year ago, and sorting by "Hot" seems to have similar issues. The only way of seeing newer content at the moment seems to be sorting by "New".

Hopefully a lot of these issues are resolved over time but right now it definitely feels a bit rough around the edges.

(sub) domain name (sub.wetshaving.social)

With the Lemmy instance seeming like it's perhaps getting more uptake than Mastodon is there a chance that if that continues it might one day become the top level wetshaving.social or is it doomed to always be sub.wetshaving.social 'cause it's perhaps really fiddly to change domains around once entrenched?

Server-wide Rules (sub.wetshaving.social)
submitted 1 year ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

Now that we are beginning to see more members, I wanted to open up the topic of server-wide rules. I adapted the server-wide rules from the /r/WetShaving subreddit rules, since I figured that was a good baseline. But they are more geared towards a subreddit rather than a server.

I don’t intend on taking any action on new rules until we have had at least a week of discussion, unless someone points out a glaring error that needs to be immediately fixed. However, if there is anything you think needs to be added, deleted, or changed, please discuss here.

I’m posting this question here instead of in the Wetshaving community because I suspect that it is a facility that exists across communities.

Is there a way to do user-to-user messaging?
