Rules:

  1. Don't be a dick.

  2. Try not to get too bogged down in genre-gatekeeping. Discussing the "tech" credentials of some release/band is fun, but as long as it's oozing viscera, it probably has a place here. Shredbang!

  3. Suggested (not enforced) music-posting format, mostly to distinguish band name from album/song title:
Artist - Album Or Song (Location, Year) (ffo: These Bands) (links)
ffo ("for fans of") and added links (e.g. YouTube, Spotify, Bandcamp, Encyclopaedia Metallum) are optional but can make it easier to check out the music you're sharing.

Overlooked this pretty hard because it came out the same day as JFAC and brutal tech doesn't grab me as much, but tbh this is really well done

Fit For An Autopsy - Black Mammoth (USA-NJ, 2017)

Only time I've had a music video elicit a reaction of "oh you're listening to That Music again- is… is that the Dakota Access Pipeline?!" Also, I keep hoping their newer material will be as good as this, but I've never caught that particular dragon

Just found out this album was released in January, and it’s name-your-price on Bandcamp!

I was thinking I was I completely uncritical listener, when during this album I went "oh oops I've moved on to Archspire", then realized where I got that idea

Dream Evil - The Book of Heavy Metal (Sweden, 2004)

In 2005 or so, when media consumption was a different animal, I found that sampler CDs were a great way to explore a bunch of bands at once without committing to a whole album of each. I went to my local CD Warehouse and Cheapo and snapped up a couple generations of Identity and Metal For The Masses - most of the stuff that resonated was metalcore and death metal (Heaven Shall Burn, God Forbid, Arch Enemy, etc.), but this weird power metal meta-track also stuck in my head. Also, it turns out the music video is way better than I could have imagined.
