[News / Drizzle Season 2023]

We've finally gotten information about the Drizzle Season 2023. I'll make a more detailed post later, I'm out at the moment.

First of all, there's a #Splatfest on the way starting on the 9th, but I don't have any translations for the theme as of present (I've only seen Japanese posts so potentially I missed a NoA post).

Next, we have two new stages: Crableg Capital and Shipshape Cargo Co. No returning stages from Splatoon 1 and Splatoon 2 this season.

Salmonoid Smokeyard is back!

We have 2 brand new weapons and a new artist as well. There's a lot to look forward to.

[Community / Tournaments]

Since a lot of you voted yes or maybe in participating in a fediverse tournament, I've decided to give hosting a tournament a go.

Mark October 14th at 6pm UTC on your calendars, for the Splatoon 3 Fediverse Championships!

Anyone can participate in this tournament, as long as you have an account on a social media website that supports the ActivityPub protocol (Lemmy and Kbin excluded, I'd recommend joining a Mastodon server, like here at https://wetdry.world if you only have a Lemmy or Kbin ActivityPub account).

You'll need to assemble a team of 4 players. I'm not setting up any Discord server for this, but I'd highly recommend scrolling through the replies on this post or making a reply with contact information and your splashtag.

For full details and rules, please visit the tournament page.

Teams must be registered by 09/10/23, if you want to pull out of the tournament please let me know before 10/10/23.

If there's a Splatfest, Big Run or Grizzco Random Weapons Rotation, the tournament will be rescheduled.

No prizes will be given out during this event.

On September 15th at 6pm UTC / 7pm BST / 2pm EST, I'm planning to host the first fediverse Splatoon 3 tournament, but I'm making a quick warning in advance for all those people who only have a Lemmy or Kbin account reading this.

For anyone on Lemmy and Kbin, you'll need to make an account outside of those platforms, preferably on Mastodon or Firefish (I recommend wetdry.world or lethallava.land). I wish I didn't have to impose this restriction, but you can't DM Lemmy users from Mastodon (I'm not sure about Kbin, it works slightly differently but I assume you can't DM Kbin users either) and Lemmy users can't DM Mastodon users. Considering we will be relying on direct messages, I've had to impose this restriction, I'm really sorry in advance.

I'll try and keep this short but was anyone else having terrible matchmaking during the splatfest outside of the normal network stuff? In short me and my friend tried to playing together (team money) and essentially were put on a 20 loss streak that only broke when we played separately. We aren't mlg pro but we also aren't bad at splatoon but it seemed like when we tried to play together we'd be put against players who were much better then us, side note we never ran into a single team fame. And how come the tri battle was only full off team money even tho team love was leading by half time? Idk between the networking issues and being punished for playing with my friends it's killing my enjoyment of the game.
