Dunno about you but I never know where to put WIP projects so a lot of them end up on this dummy. I was just walking past and realised how well the colours match in this one-sleeved jumper I've been knitting and the bralette I've been sewing!
I figured, how often do you get to crosspost the same thing between knitting and sewing communities? So here we are lol.
Knitting pattern is the Justyna Jumper by Justyna Srock, and I've somehow been on with it for months even though it's a very quick knit, multicrafter problems and all that.
The sewing pattern is the Ellie Bralette from NH Patterns, it's definitely designed for someone 20 years younger and a lot less curvy than me, but on the other hand it's fun and it's reversible and I've made this plus an almost-finished matching skirt out of a 50p bedding set so you can't go wrong 😄

I made this as a gift. This was my first attempt at making this pattern and my first Papercut Pattern outfit. It turned out well! I would consider myself an advanced beginner. The directions included were relatively easy to follow.
The only thing I changed is adding an additional 7 cm in length and about 3 cm in width to the skirt ruffle. When I first sewed the ruffle on with the original pattern, it didn't have enough ruffles for my taste.
It was a great challenge for someone at my skill level. I felt I really leveled up with this pattern. I would definitely make this again!

Started this "simple summery dress" last year, had to redo the top part because the previous plan was very ugly. After a few wear decided that it needed some decorations. So I added a few flowers and beads. I am really happy to be able to wear it this summer though, it's really comfy.

I'm rennovating an old singer sewing machine, I was wondering what oil people reccomended for the moving parts.

For her birthday, my sister wanted the bodysuit pictured on the left. Unfortunately its not for sale anymore, so she asked me to take a stab at recreating it. To make things more complicated we live about 800 miles apart and she would not be able to try it on to get the size right.
She mailed me a solid bodysuit that fit her pretty well and I traced it to get the right size. Then I went about drafting up the straps that would make up the front of the bodysuit as well as the gloves built into the arms.
We decided on a snakeskin patterned jersey fabric, something a little wild to match this bold outfit, and it came out looking really good! And I had enough fabric to make her a matching skirt!
This was my first time using a serger and I am never going back! I love this thing. It took some serious trial and error to get the right settings though. I used stretch thread in the upper threads and wooly nylon in the loops and that seemed to offer a good amount of stretch. Once I figured that out though it was a lot of fun!

Sorry for the potato quality, my ill-fitting blouse, and also the weird food stain on my ill-fitting blouse 😅
So I've got what they call "hella wide hips" and also a ridiculously short waist, which is never a great combo for getting things to fit well. I'd heard tell of the mythical beast that is a curved waistband, but being relatively inexperienced at sewing I was a bit scared to give it a go until now.
Look at this! There's a full three inch difference in circumference from the top to the bottom of the band because my hips start so high up and go out basically perpendicular to my body. But it fits me so well you can barely tell my body is such a weird shape lol.
Fashion advice for short-waisted ladies is to not wear anything high-waisted like this, but of course fashion advice for wide hipped ladies is to ALWAYS wear high-waisted things like this, so I can't win and figured I might as well go with what's comfortable to wear even if it does basically come up to my boobs 😂
It wasn't very complicated really and I know experienced sewists will be thinking "er, this is so basic". But I'm proud of myself for taking the plunge and so excited to wear this skirt (still a bit of work to do and I'm making a matching top so will post the full outfit once it's finished).
I put pockets in as well, on a pattern that didn't come with pockets. Eeeeh, look at me go! 😎

That's my drawing for a sea-horse soft toy for a -not-so-newborn baby of a friend. I'd love to hear your opinions.
I'm thinking of using two or three different fabrics and satin tags for the fins, perhaps some yarn as "hair".
I know seahorses have spikes and baby would love them, but I doubt I can realistically tackle that level of sewing detail.
What do you think about the overall shape and size? Or anything else I haven't thought of?

Just a shot in the dark but I thought it’s worth trying:
I bought this old Brother machine, but it came without a foot pedal. The machine has a power cable and another cable with a 2-pin flat prong female connector, which is where the pedal is supposed to go.
It looks very similar to this machine on EBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/283520681227?_ul=IN
All the “universal” pedals I see online don’t have this kind of connector. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement, or even what type of pedal I’m looking for?

So this is only the second time I've attempted gathering. First time was a total disaster as I pulled too hard and the threads snapped, but this time worked ok. Still, it was very tedious.
I'm using the method both patterns explained, which is where you make two rows of long stitches and pull from the sides.
So, the way I figure it either:
a) my machine's "longest stitch length" isn't as long as everyone else's which is why it's harder for me than it seems to be for others
b) I'm doing something obviously stupid or misinterpreting the instructions in some way
c) gathering with this method is just inherently tedious
I'm not sure which one is correct but if anyone has any tips, better gathering methods or general solidarity to share I'd really appreciate it.

I was quite tired of having to pick up bench cushions all the time, so I invested a bit into a full sized pad and made a cover out of an old baby wrap. We are all quite nappy with this solution.

So I was working on making this floor length but had a miscalculation and ran out of fabric for the final tier. Gotta make a trip to the fabric store in the morning to see if I can match it. Or maybe I can make the last tier white? But that makes me nervous if it’s floor length. What do you guys think?

Was browsing some petticoat related stuff and came across this cool blog entry. I love the details on the back of the hood. I've never seen that kind of pleating before and apparently it was on most cloaks during its time period.
