What happened? Well, our first regret was assuming that our factory at that time — a factory that made lots of Bluetooth speakers — could easily design the electronics for us, saving us lots of time and money. That went pretty well at first. But they, in turn, outsourced the Bluetooth software and chipset to another company in another country.

As a result, the Stereo Dock would crash often — rapidly adjusting the volume would do it. The Bluetooth pairing/unpairing experience was rough. And when we played music, it just didn’t sound very good. The back-and-forth between three companies trying to fix bugs became a huge challenge. And worst of all: the cost of the Stereo Dock kept getting higher and higher.

That was a hard long adventure, massive refactoring with bug-fixing 🥵

It’s going to be a game with a collection of mini games that cover different aspects of our dog’s life/personality. So far, I’m thinking a zoomies race course in our backyard (steer with crank), a balancing game (balance with crank), and maybe a walk simulator and a dress up game.

I’ve never tried working with 1-bit graphics before. I have experience with rudimentary digital artwork (I used to do a webcomic, but not much to look at), but 1-bit art is much different.

I find that when you’re moving around changing one pixel at a time, you often get to a point where it either looks perfect or doesn’t quite look right, and you just need to keep flipping pixels until it looks perfect. It’s a very rewarding experience.

Hoping to have it done by Christmas.

I just downloaded this onto my Playdate last night, and ended up playing a good dozen rounds before bed.

This is a simple but fun high-score game. 60 seconds on the clock, do your best to use the crank to open the tap & poor these thirsty bears a mug of root beer to their exact fill line requirement. The better your pour, the more money you earn!

Give it a try and let me know your top score! I'm currently at $72.

And maybe more importantly, when are they gonna add Bluetooth audio support?

An unofficial port of Celeste Classic from PICO-8 to Playdate.

The crank would be the perfect input device for rotating the tetrominoes.

Working on this front light mod so that I can play in the dark.

It attaches with magnets just like the case.

I got an email confirming my address; how long should it take between that and shipping?

What are your favorites from season 1 and why?

For me, I absolutely loved Pick Pack Pup, Casual Birder, Demon Quest 85, Sasquatchers, and Forrest Byrnes.
