Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! 🇵🇭

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

“Kung hindi mo kayang i-respeto ang mga katrabaho mo, i-respeto mo man lang sana ang paggasta ng pera ng bayan. Higit isang linggo na simula nang naghearing tungkol sa confidential funds, pero mas marami ka pang patutsada kaysa sa paliwanag,” Hontiveros said. (If you can’t respect your colleagues, you should respect how public funds should be spent. It’s over week since we held hearing on the use of confidential funds, yet you have more personal attacks than explanation.)

In her post, Neri presented a sample weekly meal plan designed for moms who will “mamamalengke bukas pagkatapos ihatid ang mga bata sa school.” She explained, “Nagtry akong magbudget ng P1,000 for a week. Kung may sukli pa yan, pwede pangdagdag merienda o baon ng mga bata.”

MANILA — The Philippines has overtaken China as the world's top rice importer, according to the latest report by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), as the country grapples with surging prices of the staple commodity.

The USDA's latest "Grain: World Markets and Trade" report estimated that the total rice importation of the Philippines for the 2022-2023 trade year hit 3.9 million metric tons compared to China's 3.5 million metric tons.

What are the pros on being a social climber?

Another funny parody from bitoy. May patama na we all see as not looking good, but is it always a bad thing? What do you think are the positives?

This feisty, subtly spicy (and, well, curly) cousin of their regular fries has a distinct appeal of its own—and it's back for a limited time starting today, September 13.

Dee said that the app will serve as the “beacon of change” in the ride-hailing industry by providing cheaper fares with “strictly no surcharges.” Dee also claimed that it would abide by the fare matrix set by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), but would still allow users to save up to P300 for long distance and rush hour trips.

Tara will also not take any cut of fares from its drivers and will allocate 80% of its ad revenue towards “user incentives” such as promo codes and monthly bonuses for drivers.

How will it work? Tara plans to use a subscription-based model that charges users a “modest and affordable fee” on top of the cost per ride computed using the LTFRB’s fare matrix. For instance, its “Basic” plan charges P30 monthly for subscribers to use the platform for three bookings. It does not specify the renewable period for each plan.

“That’s why COA releases everything, people have a right to see it. And the people’s right, freedom, should be expanded,” Vergel said in a mix of Filipino and English.

“What should be restrained is power and control by the executive…. I can’t understand why he would say the release of COA reports is causing chaos. If COA releases something, if there are observations, it is based on facts and numbers,” he said.

The three got engaged in 2021 but they cannot marry due to Australia's law against polygamy. “What’s holding us back is that you can’t marry two people. That’s our biggest hurdle,” said Ben.

Padilla was asking if it was appropriate for an American Navy plane to be present in the West Philippine Sea, the source of conflict between the Philippines and China, when it was the PCG and the CCG going head to head.

What Padilla got wrong – and seemingly refused to believe – was that China’s structure was different. The CCG, since 2018, has been under China’s Central Military Commission. It used to be under Beijing’s State Oceanic Administration.

“‘Wag natin ibahin ang international law… ang coast guard ay civilian in nature, police nga yan eh… sinasabi po ba natin na ang coast guard ng China ay hindi civilian in nature?” Padilla had asked just moments prior.

Maritime expert lawyer Jay Batongbacal would tell Padilla and the rest of the hearing that no such international law to define a coast guard exists. Senator Ronald dela Rosa, despite Batongbacal’s explanation, would later insist that it was a “universally accepted concept” that coast guards are civilian forces.

FIBA secretary general Andreas Zagklis traced the problem to exorbitant ticket pricing at the two Philippine venues, Araneta Coliseum and Mall of Asia Arena, and admitted that the federation failed to correctly anticipate Filipino fans’ purchasing power.

“The pricing of the tickets – which was determined by the [local organizing committee] but reviewed by FIBA, so we have our share in this, of course, and we were part of this process – for some categories, it was unsuccessful. I can say that this is one of the major debriefing points we’ll have,” he said.

“Several times in the venue, where the fourth and fifth tiers (upper box and general admission) were full, the first tier (patron/courtside) was full, the second and third (lower box) were not. So that’s where you see immediately the impact of pricing.”

True enough, ticket pricing for the Manila venues had noticeable jumps in the aforementioned tiers, with general admission ranging from P500 to P1,000 per ticket and a sudden surge to P5,000 to P10,000 in the upper box, depending on the teams playing.

Super bastos ka, bastos kang tao,” he added. (You’re not thinking about the effect of what you display in public. You only think of yourself. You think what you’re doing is okay. “Senator Risa Hontiveros, while she amuses the nation with her flair for drama, could only wish the 2022 OVP CF was accessed illegally,” the Vice President said.

“It’s a shame they still cannot produce any proof to support their dirty imagination. The indignity they have caused Congress and the Senate should be enough for us not to give them serious attention,” she added.
