Ticket prices for this Sunday’s match between Inter Miami and Los Angeles FC are the most expensive for a Major League Soccer game ever, according to TickPick, an online marketplace.

Average prices are around $690 — a 527% increase over the average ticket price of an MLS game, which used to cost $110 before soccer superstar Leo Messi joined the league.

The Power Rankings are voted on by 15 people (give or take) and the author would really like you to know the order is not entirely his fault. Although he may have shifted one team up one spot because, I dunno, when you blow a team out it just feels rude to be one spot below them the next week in the Power Rankings.

The 23-year-old joins the Premier League side for a fee worth €16million (£13.6m, $17.4m) plus €2m in add-ons.

New England didn’t want to lose their star goalkeeper as they push for a title this year, but the record fee plus Petrovic’s desire for the move got the deal done.

Petrovic has made 48 appearances in New England after signing in 2022 and quickly established himself after Matt Turner departed for Arsenal. He was voted second in MLS Goalkeeper of the Year last season, despite playing only 21 of 34 matches after joining midseason. He was named a 2023 MLS All-Star.

I snapped this in the moment because it was hilarious. But now that I’m watching DC start and realizing what a drought we’ve been in… well, I can relate.

Messi may be coming into the final on an absolute tear (nine goals and an assist in six matches) but the defending Major League Soccer MVP, Hany Mukhtar, has been playing at an elite level for his team as well (two goals and six assists in six matches).

The two players may not have to come into direct contact much on the pitch, but their gravitational pulls as the most dangerous attacks for their teams will largely determine who ultimately wins on Saturday night.
